RMD plan, Jan 11-17th, 2020

Filed under: Robinson Dorion — Robinson Dorion @ 11:59 a.m.

1. Things my Master assigned me:

  1. TMSR OS development.
    1. (3h) Get caught up on providing feedback for trinque and lobbes on the articles they've published (At all costs) Deadline: Sunday, Jan 12th.
    2. (3h) Set priorities and deliverables for the remainder of the month. (AAC) Deadline: Monday, Jan 13th.
    3. (6h) Time available for impending articles to be published by trinque and lobbes.
  2. (8h) Hawaii trip article. (AAC) Deadline: Wednesday, Jan 16th.
  3. Work through the fabled outlines article backlog. (Time Permitting)

2. Things I want feedback on/help with1

  1. Help uncovering areas of improvement in TMSR OS and JWRD management.
  2. Ask MP about implementation of his suggested JWRD pivot to making the operation as remote management/delivery as possible.

3. anything else that takes up a significant amount of your time.

  1. (10h)2 TMSR OS
    1. Start on the list of dependencies of the implicit clients of TMSR OS.
    2. Read/re-read archives of The Tar Pit, BVT Trace, Krankendenken and Fixpoint, leave comments/questions.
  2. (15h) JWRD : 5h of management. 10h of relationship development.
  3. (21h) Following the forum and conversing when it's my time. I'm planning to block off 14:00-15:30 and 19:00-20:30 UTC to properly eat and engage the logs and blogs.
  4. (2h) Meet up with whaack Monday evening.
  5. (4h) Junto on Tuesday evening.
  6. (7h)3 Daily Review/Preview to start up, wind down day.
  7. (2h) Weekly review/preview.
  8. (5h 15m) 45 minutes of exercise each morning.
  9. (5h 50m) 20 min Spanish, 30 min French each morning.

Summary

This outlines a pretty action packed week, but with a week of ~pure holiday wrapping the new year and recovering from holiday last week, I'm eager to get back to a normal work environment and schedule. An underlying goal for this week is to spend less time with myself and ask for more help and talk to people more. Relax emergency mode while still maintaining urgency.

  1. These two have been on the list for some time, but I've yet to actually ask, time to do that. []
  2. This was set to 30h in previous weeks. Let's see what cutting it to 10h and doing more than thinking yields. []
  3. 30 mins in morning, 30 mins before sleep []

  1. Are the next steps clear for everyone working currently on tmsr-os?

  2. bvt : clarify if kernel rng work is to be ported from 4.9.95 to 2.x series. clarify his priorities/interests otherwise, i.e. if kernel is good enough for now, what is he interested in tackling ?

spyked : choose a couple coreboot supported boards to target, genesize all required software. I affirmed in recent comment, which at time of this comment remains in his mod queue.

trinque : progressing on part 3 of his series.

lobbes : finishing Gales install and write up today. need to clarify with him where his interests lie/where he thinks he's a good fit moving forward.

jfw : we've yet to establish what he wants to tackle. I've been waiting for him to finish the wallet and get caught up generally.

ave1 : I've been reserving gcc for him, but he's not been seen since before Mr. Popescu asked me to head this up.

  3. As there are a few slots with more flexible timing (e.g. 6h for reading the new tmsr-os articles and 21h for forum following) - what's the option waiting for any time remaining from there if it turns out those don't eat up all that's allocated? (I think lobbes for instance already pushed his deadline on Gales to next week.)

At 3.1 - how does this go? The best thinking & reading tends to include at least still some writing so I'm not sure how & why is it separate from article writing really.

Just to update: I wasn't able to finish Gales install/write-up last week (I simply ran out of time) and have a few other items I need to get out during the next ~2 weeks. I'm currently aiming to have the write-up out by Jan 31st, but will update you again if this changes.

Working through the article backlog and developing JWRD business.

I haven't been thinking of section 3 to be exclusive of articles and agree writing ought be an output of the thinking.

    @Eric Benevides

Thanks for the update, looking forward to your write up when it's ready. I'm glad the experience has been peaceful and that you're been taking your time to achieve your goal of learning.

Godspeed with your logger work and guarding your sanity from the saltmines !
