Now that my stuff’s shipped and stored (Englishmen), flat cleaned (Poles) and concierge farewell-ed (Nigerian); I’ve traded the fourteenth floor of a glass tower in a grotty part of a grotty borough of a grotty city for a charming cottage in the middle of nowhere, Surrey.
Aside from the 100x slower internet, things are a lot more civilised; the shreik of sirens has given way to the chirping of jackdaws, and a potter through the fields presented an opportunity to observe the herding behaviour (though rain prevented a thorough investigation).
Plan for the day:
1. Flat search (4)
2. #o log reading (2)
3. Shopping (2)
4. #o chat (1)
5. Tie up loose ends re: flat (1)
6. Review of day’s work & publish tomorrow’s agenda (1)
Ahaha, and I thought Surrey was more to the South/South-East than to the middle of nowhere! Anyway, sounds you’re enjoying it so good for you. Why not pics though, even of that glass tower of the grotty surroundings – if it was good enough to spend there years, it follows it’s surely good enough for a photo, even if it’s just for looking at it in disbelief some years later.
You know, while I get what you mean by that “more civilised”, the list you follow up with there is quite the opposite of it, lol. More like adding details to that slower pace of internet (and life) than to increased civilisation levels.

Definitely missed a beat by not taking pictures – the view wasn’t half bad! I’ll be sure to take a few next time I’m up there, and get in the habit of photographing interesting stuff – starting with Knole Park, tomorrow!
And lol yea, civilised isn’t the right word – “pleasant” will do for now :)

Review
Was still moderately frazzled from moving and settling into new place; cut activities short when brain ran outta fuel.
1. Registered on a bunch of flat-sharing sites (don’t wanna deal with estate agents/long-term lets right now); messaged 3(!) people; probably checked out two-dozenish places in and around Bath. The shittiness of people’s property listing photos is matched only by those of online dating (why show me extreme closeups of the lampshades?!) (2.5)
2. Read logs from 2020-05-01 (day of my disappearance) to 2020-05-16. Noted that Diana asked me several times what was going on; I promised an update and didn’t deliver. Am resolved not to fuckabout thusly going forward (1.5)
3. Picked up a coffee machine; had to covid-queue, and deal with neurotic masked women up my arse – trying to overtake with their trolleys while remaining two metres apart. (2)
4. Rocked up at ~22:15UTC – too late; will bring this forward to 19/20:00 (0)
5. Sorted a bunch of utility billing etc. (1)
6. Eight of a projected eleven hours’ work done. Miscellaneous stuff – eating, chatting etc. took up more time than expected; I’ll try toning the expected work hours down a bit (say, to 8hrs) for a few days. (1)
