Monday
JWRD: training prep – 2h
JWRD: training session – 1.6h
JWRD: chat – 1.1h
JWRD: misc – 2.6h (some further chat, rereading old notes, futzing with webcam drivers in search of a white balance knob, some unspecific pondering)
YH: chat – 0.8h
Reading some old Trilema and TMSR logs – 2.2h
Last week I had failed to deploy a VPS for training, finding my provider had completely broken their web login form (almost as if they heard me!) So instead I built a Gales VM on a local system and set up port forwarding through the home router.
Tuesday
JWRD: training homework prep – 3.9h
YH: weekly plan drafting – 0.8h
YH: chat – 1.7h
Medical: reading fine print and starting on plan application – 1.3h
Reading on US politics – 0.8h
I found our early assigned readings were in a worse state than I’d remembered, having tried to save time by grabbing some existing university materials online.
Wednesday (5/27)
JWRD: training material cleanup – 0.8h
JWRD: reading, chat, accounting – 1.3h
YH – 0.8h
Junto – 2.6h
One of those “neither proper work nor proper break” days I guess.
Thursday (5/28)
JWRD: chat – 0.8h
JWRD: misc – 0.5h
JWRD: training material cleanup – 3.1h
YH – 1.65h
I found myself deep in a mess of sloppily coded inherited HTML that I simply had to get in order before getting to a full run-through and revision of the text and exercises.
Friday (5/29)
JWRD: training material cleanup – 7.2h
Saturday (5/30)
JWRD: training material cleanup – 5.7h
JWRD: website setup – 0.6h
Reading news on US protests and riots – 1.4h
Reading and pondering on DNS and alternatives – 3h
Overall: I got the material for the present JWRD client to where it had to be for now, though there’s more to come. I didn’t manage to write for the JWRD landing page or my blog, or to send off the questions that came up on the health plan application.
From this so far, the planning for the week seems to be:
1. JWRD work, 6-7 hours/day:
– main priority this week: fully set up infrastructure+supporting materials for the new JWRD training client.
– set up jwrd.net static page.
– write on blog (yes, this is jwrd work).
2. YH chat, 1h/day on average (I’d expect it’s not really that each and every day but it clearly can go beyond 1h on some days, hm).
3. Reading, 1.5h/day on average.
4. Medical plan research and application, 1h/day on average.
The above is also quite enough really. Sure, additional JWRD work can pop up and fit in 1. The YH chat at 2 can be trimmed down if that’s really in the way, not that much of a problem in itself. The reading is at 3 and medical at 4 since I’d rather think that’s the order they are more likely to happen but possibly set instead some days on which you move forwards the medical thing too, so it’s moving at least.

Setup of supporting materials for the whole course probably won’t happen this week, but I’ll focus on those for the next couple lessons plus a full run-through to identify what work will be needed.
The static page did fall into “mental notes, to happen eventually” territory after its last miss. Need to grit my teeth and take another swing at that dread copy writing thing.
I don’t think YH chat is much in the way; I can perhaps tighten the time logging for when I’m available but doing something else.
The daily slices on reading and medical seem OK for now.
