I started reading through the ossasepia logs today; some highlights:

  1. How did you decide that it’s best to link to that logger instead of the blog-published articles (with links just the same, fancy that) on my site?

  2. Force of habit; I’ll switch to ossasepia logs for consistency. For the record, I knew I was derping, but switching logs would’ve been (a tiny, TINY bit of) extra work (and thus is be avoided at all costs!!).

  3. Apparently you need it said plainly: for that initial “avoiding” of the tiny bit of work, what you get is *more* work to do down the road and in this case that work is the fixing of all those links here. So fix them manually and boringly and next time maybe recall how that avoidance worked out in practice. (If you “forget” it by then, it’s alright, it will gradually but reliably snowball into more and more and MORE work, until…you stop forgetting it.)

You know, it’s precisely this sort of “feigning to not notice that now it *also* needs fixing” that enables all the lazy to grow in the first place.

  4. Links fixed below to point to #ossasepia logs; correcting the laziness took 18 minutes. I did indeed need the principle pointed out – while I was already aware of it, I’ve commonly ignored it in practice. Need to stop doing this; knowing – but not doing – the right thing is maybe the worst of all possible options.
As for the feigning, I don’t think it even occurred to me that I ought to fix the problem – even after being called out on it (though writing about it in hindsight, this is more than obvious).

I started reading through the ossasepia logs today; some highlights:

Time is the only finite resource
The first student had to write daily
Don’t be afraid to publish “unimportant” shit
Publish to improve, rather than to express, oneself. Writing = thinking
Bro lives in the middle of bumfuck-nowhere; somehow hasn’t travelled an hour to nearest city
Meaning (“purpose”) comes from authority; I echo his feelings
    diana_coman is a heavy-set leather trenchcoat-bedecked black man
