Things I did this week :
- On the Dorion Mode front :
- I published my Hawaii article by the deadline I set for myself and I enjoyed the process.
- As I write this, I’ll have a couple hours left on a mega-photo article covering my time in St. Vincent in 2012. I expect to publish prior to going to sleep tonight.
- On the JWRD front :
- I had a follow up meeting with a contact I made the week prior and learned in 2017 he put a training program together which processed ~2,200 people in Panama on Bitcoin/crypto ((Crypto as the uninformed use it, in the sense they had modules for the top 10 by marketcap, usage of
exchangeswebsites, themainlamestream stuff.)) basics. Clients included an asset management firm. After the bubble burst, the demand dropped substantially, but he’s expecting it to pick back up this year. His main business is business consulting and precious metals brokerage. His training service was much lower end than ours, but we’re setting up a referral agreement for the times he does have higher end clients to refer. - At the networking event Wednesday, I met the owner of a firm with securities license in Panama and Prime Broker in London. They mainly trade fiat settled Bitcoin derivatives, e.g. CFDs and the contracts the CME started Dec 2017, but the seed is planted for the relationship.
- Wednesday I also met UBS banker that specializes in on boarding Latam institutions to their Swiss platform.
- Checked on previously established prospects and started sending invites to the event our clients are hosting Feb 13-14th, at which Jacob and I are presenting. I’m giving a presentation in two parts covering, “There is nothing novel in the world apart from the history you don’t know.”.
- I asked about the structure of our service, though I’ve not yet processed his response, the ball is rolling again there.
- I shared the approach I’m trying on myself with Jacob in #o as I sense he was feeling a bit down on himself.
- On the TMSR OS front:
- I commented on trinque’s part 3 of the Republican OS series.
- I continued the conversation with spyked on his bootloading operating systems article. Will check in with him tomorrow on the status of his plan for the month.
- Will read lobbes review hear and clarify if needed if he’s still on track to complete the Gales install and report by the 31st.
- I got clarity on bvt’s status and expectations for the coming weeks.
- I didn’t hear back from the rEFInd guy, going to ping my Monday if I’ve not head from him then as his first response was quick, but now it’s been a week since I replied to him.
- I didn’t get the draft of the dependency page published yet, but expect I can over the weekend.
- I didn’t yet start on the second crack at the “Why Contributing to TMSR OS is +ev” article yet. I think I’ll start in #t by asking for help better mapping what the gaps and jumps in the first were.
I didn’t break through the resistance and establish the habit of starting each day writing, but I think I can capture the pleasure I had/am having writing both the Hawai’i and SVG articles and bring that to the start of my days this next week.
1 – they made for light & fun reading too!
(Even if 1.2 looked in the end more like “I expect I *won’t* go to sleep tonight until I publish it”, lol.)
2.1 – that processing 2k people on bitcoin/crypto basics sounds pretty much on par with what happens nowadays in ~any university too: they will “process” thousands of people on “bitcoin/crypto” mainly because they “have to” (and no wonder it ebbs and flows with the fashion basically, of course) but if you look at what actually goes on in there, it has so little to do with the supposed topic that it’s painful to fully read even. This is of course, no reason to not pursue that link or to not keep talking to those people, so don’t take it that way. Just a note re expectations and the different meanings that your contacts will attach to bitcoin/crypto for starters, let alone basics on them.
2.4 – what event is this, is it public/publicly advertised otherwise?
(And I like your presentation’s topic, obviously.)
2.5 I did add http://logs.ossasepia.com/log/trilema/2020-01-25#1957277 to it and perhaps if you look at #o/yh you’ll notice the similarity and further get the very reason why it has always been about each of you rather than about some abstract “here’s the curriculum” or such thing. At any rate, the way to keep that ball rolling is to read/re-read as needed and ask questions on any part that is not clear/you’re unsure of and so on. Not like this approach or the need for it are anything new, are they?
2.6 Now I need to ask you: are *you* getting all that… impatient (glum is Jacob’s, not yours, I know) with yourself there?
3 sounds all good really and I quite enjoyed seeing you in action on it too, those days. 3.5 – good luck!
3.7 Good idea. Did you get the top level structure as it emerged from that convo we had? It maps your article anyway and then you need to drill down, identify clearly the various topics you were trying to link in there, make your points structured and at the right place + link them properly together. And you know, there’s a usual process on getting to grips with writing a sort of thing you never wrote before: it’s called repeated reviews and it goes the way of 1. write outline + ask for feedback on it 2. implement feedback, write draft + ask for feedback on it 3. repeat from 2 until feedback comes back ~it’s fine to publish.
Some resistance will most likely always be there. The important thing is to not let it block the start, that’s about it all. You can even aim to make starts easier, mainly by setting it all up from the day before (e.g. stopping at a point where the next bit to write is clear and easy enough + you even *want* to write it already).

Glad you enjoyed, the won’t go to sleep until done it turned out to be and though starting earlier will be better, I’m glad I pushed through.
Right. My take on the situation is his precious metals clients came to him about “crypto”, so he got up to speed himself the best he could in a short period and turned it into a side business — not a change your life and how you view the world sort of thing, as has been my experience.
Right. At present I’m in a mode of talking to as many people as possible because the odds of someone ready to commit to our training are already low. At the same time, staying open minded and flexible to other services apart from the training. The training provides us and clients the most long-term, sustainable leverage imo, but getting people there will likely take developing a relationship based on how ~they~ want to start.
Not publicly, it has been invite only and advertised through conversations and a pdf, which I’ve now uploaded to my site: http://dorion-mode.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/CryptoWorld-2020.pdf
While we need clients for both cashflow and to hone our experience, I’m aiming to keep things in perspective, appreciate the opportunities we have and control what I can control. Been brushing up on some Stoics, so that is helping.
My pleasure.
Think I got the high level structure, looking forward to putting it through the test in conversation. I can already feel the pressure lightening on the topic when viewed through the lens of this approach.
Right, like when you go to the gym to lift weights the resistance ought to be there, but putting your shoes on brings you closer to confronting it.
